Who provides the service

These terms apply to the Built From One website and the Build Your Story World bespoke creative service. They are separate from the BF1 Reads membership terms.
The £795 Story World package
The advertised package is a one-off £795 creative commission, not a subscription. Its core scope is an original novel developed from your idea, a connected 10-track music album, guided creative development, editorial and continuity review, and organised digital handover.
The written project brief identifies the novel’s target length, genre, chapter or structural requirements, musical direction, track formats, included review or revision work, delivery schedule and final files. Cover art, publishing assistance, physical goods, audiobook narration, commercial licensing or additional services are included only if expressly listed in the accepted brief.
All prices and applicable charges are confirmed before a binding order. An enquiry is free and is not an order; the website does not take payment.
Enquiries, orders and payment
We assess enquiries for suitability and may decline a project. Before work starts, we provide the proposed scope, delivery milestones, any deposit or payment timetable, revision boundaries, total price, relevant rights and statutory cancellation information in a durable written quotation or agreement.
A contract is formed only when the written proposal is accepted in the stated manner and we confirm acceptance. If payment is required, the method and due date are specified in writing. Do not email payment-card details. No recurring charge is created by the £795 package.
Your ideas and materials
You should provide reasonably accurate instructions, any agreed reference materials and feedback in time to meet the approved schedule. You confirm you have permission to supply materials and request their use, including any copyright-protected text, music, images or identifiable private information.
We will not deliberately reproduce third-party protected work or use confidential material beyond the authorised project. Delays caused by missing approvals, extensive changes or new source material may require a documented change to the brief or schedule.
AI-assisted production and creative quality
Built From One uses human-directed AI-assisted tools in writing, editing, artwork and music production. Music may contain synthetic vocals or instrumentation. Creative results are reviewed against the agreed brief, but the service does not promise a specific bestseller outcome, streaming income, publishing approval or that generative AI output can always be protected by copyright in every country.
Before publication or commercial exploitation, you should review factual claims, references to real people, third-party rights, platform rules and the final text or audio. We address verified defects or material departures from the agreed brief as required by our contract and applicable consumer law.
Changes and delivery
The approved brief defines how feedback, corrections and revision rounds work. Minor agreed corrections are dealt with under that process. A major change of premise, genre, protagonist, novel length, track list or musical direction after approval may require a new quotation and written authorisation; extra work is never charged silently.
Delivery is digital using the file formats and handover method in the brief. We agree a realistic completion schedule before the order is accepted; the website makes no guaranteed seven-day promise.
Ownership, licences and portfolio use
You retain rights you already hold in the original materials you provide. Ownership or licensing of the commissioned novel, music, cover artwork and production files is determined by the agreed written rights schedule and relevant third-party tool and platform licences. No blanket copyright transfer, commercial music licence, exclusivity or publishing rights are implied by the website alone.
BF1’s existing books, characters, art, brand and sample work remain with their respective rights holders. We do not treat an unrelated public portfolio example as a deliverable of your commission. Any permission to use your completed project in BF1 marketing or as a case study should be agreed separately.
Cancellation before or during production
UK consumers who order at a distance will normally have a 14-day statutory cancellation period starting the day after the contract is made, subject to the law’s conditions and any applicable exceptions. Commissioning bespoke creative work does not, by itself, justify a blanket “no cancellations” rule.
If you expressly ask us to start a service during that period, you may need to pay a lawful proportion of the price for services already performed if you then cancel. Where a legally applicable early-completion or digital-content exception is used, we will explain it and obtain the separate request, consent or acknowledgement required by law; simply paying or accepting these terms is not treated as a waiver. Faults, refunds and consumer rights
We will investigate missing, faulty or materially misdescribed services and digital content and provide remedies required by law. A lawful refund will be made without undue delay within the applicable time limit, normally to the original payment method. This is not a blanket no-refunds service.
Nothing in these terms restricts statutory rights, liability for fraud, or liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.
Website use and third-party sites
The website and BF1 showcase assets are for personal browsing and evaluation of our creative service. You must not republish protected site material without permission, misuse forms, interfere with security or use the site unlawfully. Links to BF1 Reads and third-party platforms lead to services with their own conditions.
Reasonable availability or technical interruptions may occur; this does not remove rights or remedies required by law.
Complaints and governing law
Contact sales@builtfromone.com with your project reference and the problem. We will review the agreed scope and applicable rights. The law of England and Wales governs these terms subject to mandatory consumer protections and any court or complaint rights that apply where you live.
We may update website terms prospectively. We will not retrospectively change an accepted quotation or take away statutory rights.
